Time … and money … the tax that truly hurts
Date: 2010-03-05T07:02:07.693 Author: Angie Pratt Byline: Editor Editor note: You don't have my signiture and I've verbally told you know no. This mortgage contract for America by OBama, Washington and Wall Street is unacceptable. Number of Views: 242
The glaring thing you cull from all the various news sources is … America has to be patient. Jobs are not going to turn around soon. The budget deficit is going to be huge for years to come. Growth, that is the direct result of bailouts and stimulus, is the devil’s bargain for the foreseeable future.
And … by golly … there is no denying that all of this is going to cost us a king’s ransom.
But … the money really isn’t what’s getting me. It’s the time. I’m 52 … in a few weeks. Twenty years makes me 72. I have no interest in spending the rest of my life in this wealth siphoning economy.
We need to rip this band aide off and apply a generous amount of Neosporin to the wound. Heck … we may in fact need to amputate.
Has anything really changed? If this isn’t a form of indentured servitude, I don’t know what is. Taking my money and giving it to poor people or … building roads or … going to the moon is one thing. Giving my money to Robber Barons is a whole other thing.
And … if they had asked me … I’d have said “no”.
Which … of course … they didn’t … ask me.
Why? Because … if we said “no” and … they did it anyway … well … the peasants might pick up pitchforks, throw the bums out, and put somebody in office that did what they were told to do.
Today we are supposed to be much more sophisticated. In theory … we hold elections and we vote these yahoos out of office.
We have two very interesting examples of this occurring – Iceland and Greece. The economic crisis is lowering people’s standard of living … well … some people’s anyway. You know … the current amorally un-hazarded beneficiaries of today’s Government run bailouts.
Can rioting be contained in Greece? Can the austerity measures be swallowed? Especially … the youth who are essentially being told … no help wanted?
Iceland is expected to say ‘no” in a vote on paying $16,000 per person between now and 2025. A family of four owes $64,000? Ouch! Their Government has already said yes. Oooops.
Not to ever be out done, the US’ number is in the ballpark of $150,000 per person. So … family of 4 … are you ready to take on a mortgage payment of … say … $1000 a month?
If your answer is “no”… you had better be prepared to do what the Icelanders are doing – holding an election and saying “no”. Our November election is our opportunity to stop Obama, Washington and Wall Street from selling us down the river … Styx. Denial sure isn’t a dad gum river in Egypt.
